Bill Pollock grew up in the Bronx New York, attended James Monroe High School, and enrolled into CCNY Evenings because was first in family to go to college and needed to work and attend classes.  He was actively in both the National Honorary Society of Pershing Rifles (PR/A-8) and became the President of Industrial Arts Club and SKILJA publication.  His fondest memories of City College were working with Professors Bernstein, Pastor and Keane in their labs.  He also enjoyed the activities of the PR/A-8 drills and competitions and ROTC. Running between North and South Campus there was always a stop for one of Raymond the Bagel-man’s bagels.  He married his Hunter college sweetheart, Jeanne Taccetta upon graduation and commissioning. He then served as a 1st LT MACV advisor (1969-70) to the General Political Warfare Directorate in Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star and Vietnamese Technical Service Medal.
 
For 17 years Bill and his family ran a self-sufficient solar heated farm growing and raising all their needs except for condiments, cleaning supplies and paper products. Currently Bill’s son and his wife, Susanne & young family live on the farm in NJ, where they keep bees and grow kitchen vegetables in the summer. Bill’s son is a chef and teaches in an urban NJ school.  His daughter, Elizabeth is a nurse living in Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ and has two children.
 
Bill earned his MS Ed at The College of NJ in 1984 while teaching and leading his department at Howell High School. He earned his EdD from Nova Southeastern in 1993 and attended the certificate program at Harvard GSE for Principals. He and his staff wrote the curriculum and program as Founding Principal of High Technology High School of the Monmouth County Vocational School District.  The school won many awards such as Star School, and Blue Ribbon School twice under his leadership.  In 1997 he was awarded the Met Life, New Jersey, Principal of the Year by the Principal and Supervisors Association of NJ.
 
Bill was awarded a grant from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and that led to work at their Principals’ Center in Princeton and later to the Center for Effective Schools Practices at Rutgers Graduate School of Education as a Lead Facilitator and Laboratory Extension Specialist (Research) at the Regional Educational Laboratory Mid-Atlantic.
The Regional Library Cooperative Executive Board selected Bill as Chairman of their Board.
 
As a Farm Bureau member and a life long conservationist Bill was appointed to the Ocean County Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors. He is currently re-elected chairman of that Board.
 
In retirement Bill and his wife Dr. Jeanne Pollock travel throughout the world and continue to keep active boating and fishing while enjoying their grand children.
