biography
I was born in Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA, a long time ago. At the time, our family home was in Spotsylvania Courthouse (County seat of Spotsylvania County) a few miles west of Fredericksburg, near Chancellorsville Battlefield. Across the street from our house was a large Confederate Cemetery. But I can’t tell about that because it is now not politically correct or some such. Anyway, we left there and moved to Alabama when I was about three months old.
Many years later we returned to Virginia; I graduated high school in 1965 and enlisted in the Army September 1967; basic at Ft Bragg, AIT at Aberdeen Proving Ground then on to Vietnam, April 1968; I came home in April 1969, went to Ft Knox then on the Germany where I finished my enlistment. I record my first Honorable Discharge Sept 1973. I joined the Virginia National Guard (C/183 Nav/116 Inf Bde) and served there nine years. I received my final Honorable Discharge Mar 1985.
While in Vietnam I helped erect what we believe to be the World's First Vietnam Veterans Memorial - 27OCT1968
