Thomas Leroy Jackson


Born to Paul and Agnes Jackson, Tom Jackson enlisted in the US Army at 18. Assigned to the 1st Infantry Division as a scout dog handler, Tom spent much of his time of service in Vietnam with his last duty station being Quan Loi. Upon being honorably discharged, Tom returned to the States.

He describes his time of service as being the most impactful 3 years of his life; with it impacting everything from his health to his sanity. Since leaving Vietnam, Tom has developed developed throat cancer that traces back to his exposure to Agent Orange.

In the time since the War, Tom has gone on to have several daughters and is now the grandfather of 8, and the great-grandfather of 4. He owned and operated his own trucking company, has fought through multiple health battles, celebrated 30 years of sobriety, and been an active member of the Charlotte, NC community. He is well known and liked by everyone he meets.
