biography
Being the son of a Mother and Dad that both served in WWII, I felt it was necessary to continue the family tradition by enlisting in the USAF. They had both been in the Army Air Corp and met while stationed at Stewart Field, NY. I enlisted in Feb 1967 after having a not too successful college career at the University of South Florida in Tampa. I went to basic in Amarillo AFB in Feb 67, followed by Tech school for Tactical Radio Operations at Keesler AFB, MS. My first permanent assignment was with the 727th TCS, at Bergstrom AFB, where I was trained as a Radio Operator. I was stationed at Bac Lieu, RVN as a radio operator for the 22 TASS and was the ground contact for the David Forward Air Controllers. I flew numerous missions with the FAC's in the O-1 Birddog directing air strikes, artillery strikes, and several other missions. When I rotated back to the states, I was assigned to the 1st. Special Operations wing where I ended my career as the acting First Sergeant of that unit in Feb 1971.
