biography
After A.I.T. training at fort Sam Houston I was assigned to Yuma proving grounds hospital in Arizona. Put in a transfer for Italy. A few months after submission I was told: "Walker, your orders are on your bunk". Excited at first then quickly disappointed to find assignment of "Charlie Co 1-1-2, Viet Nam". Phuoc Vinh instead of ROME! Last "assignment" in-country: "D" 1st Medical Battalion. What happened between those orders is blurry. I know I traveled to Long Binh, Cam Rahn, Quan loi, and many other places during my stay, names of which were unknown to me then and now. Sometimes just a few clicks from base but far enough to get guys blown up!
For these 50 plus years I've shunned remembrances of those days but now I would welcome finding others who served during 66-67 time frame. Specially Big Red One combat soldiers. Going to visit the Wall in D. C. in a few days!
