biography
Jon Lasher was drafted into the United States Army in 1965. He attended Basic Training at Fort Dix, NJ, and deployed to Vietnam in May of 1966. He received two Gold Stars for his actions during a counteroffensive and was captured at Kamphong and force-marched into Cambodia in late October 1966. He was able to escape and was eventually rescued by 196th Brigade 4th Recon Platoon, repatriating in November. He received a Purple Heart after a firefight that left him with grenade shrapnel in his knee, and a Silver Star for actions during Operation Junction City in Tay Ninh Province.
