biography
My tour consisted of serving as a platoon leader for our 4-ward hospital, ER, OR, and other services. We conducted MEDCAP missions in surrounding villages, supplied medics for convoys and other duties, as well as voluntarily flying dust-off missions with the 54th Air/Medical almost every Sunday for the first 7-8 months of my tour. Lots of both good (ie: Christmas Party for Catholic Orphanage & USO Show w/ Bob Hope) and bad (ie: lots of heroin abuse, suicides, insubordination, racial unrest, and disturbing situations that I was involved with during my tour) memories. I felt very fortunate to come home and got married just 28 days after returning from Nam---still married 50 years later to my wife Margaret. Became a teacher, coach and school administrator at Carle Place HS on Long Island, NY and currently live on Shelter Island, NY.
