Biography
Bill Spych, Jr.
Spych – Entered the Army July 1963. Basic and Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Dix, NJ. This was followed by Airborne Training at Fort Benning, GA. Upon completion of training and Parachutist Badge awarded, assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, C Co. 2/506th Airborne Infantry, Fort Campbell, KY December 1963.
Deployed to the Republic of Vietnam, January 1966. While In-Country assigned under various Special Orders to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).
Upon completion of my tour of duty returned to Continental United States (CONUS).
Honorably Discharged June 1969.
Badges, Awards and Decorations: Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), Parachutist Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (AFEM), Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Stars (VSM), Vietnam Campaign Medal (VCM), National Defense Service Medal (NDSM), Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation (VPUC), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal (VCGM).
Education: Rutgers University – Bachelor of Arts – Political Science, Rutgers University – Graduate School – Masters Public Policy. Selected as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF).
Employment: Retired Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Safety Inspector (ASI), Air Carrier Operations. Holder of Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane, Instrument, Single, Multi-Engine Land Airplanes (CFIAI-SMEL) w/Gold Seal.
Typed Rated: B-737, EMB-120, SD-3-330 & 360, Experimental Jet PZL-TS-11.
Awarded: Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award for Professionalism, Skill and Aviation Expertise for the past 50 years.
